Take the controls of a Robinson R22 Helicopter and Learn to Fly in Waterford, Michigan during a 60 minute Hands-On Introductory Helicopter Flight Lesson.

At Oakland County International Airport, you will meet your certified flight instructor.  For 10 to 15 minutes, you will have a pre-flight orientation to brief you on flight controls, reading gauges, what to look for in conducting the pre-flight inspection, and more! Once your ground instruction is complete, you will take off from Oakland County for a forty-five minute helicopter flight.  With the help of your flight instructor, you will have the opportunity to experience various flight conditions like: straight and level flight, climbs, turns, and hovering!

With the ground school and flight combined, after this exciting Michigan Helicopter Flight Lesson you will have a basic understanding of How to Fly a Helicopter all on your own!

The Detroit Learn To Fly a Helicopter Lesson includes 10 to 15 minutes of ground instruction, an average flight time of 45 to 50 minutes and is typically 1½ hours in total duration.

Does Weather Impact Flying Lessons

The Detroit Helicopter Flight Introductory Lesson may be rescheduled by the Pilot due to high winds, heavy rain, fog or other inclement weather.

What to Wear for Flying Lessons

Dress Comfortably. Flat rubber-soled shoes are recommended for this aerial adventure.

What To Know Before You Go

Your flight will take place on the Robinson R22, unless the Bell 47 or the Robinson R44 Option are selected. Each provides a very smooth ride and has dual controls.

All participants must have a valid photo ID (passport or driving license). The maximum weight for participants may not exceed 230lbs and must be less than 6'3" tall.

Individuals who are pregnant, have broken bones or other physical conditions which are considered unsafe conditions are not eligible to participate.

All pilots are accident and incident free and the Company has a 100% safety record. Pilots are trained beyond the rating they currently hold and are Certified Flight Instructors.

Participants are required to sign a Liability Release Form prior to flight. If the participant is under the age of 18 a parent or guardian will need to sign the form prior to participation.
