This outdoor adventure begins when you meet your knowledgeable Guide in La Jolla and get fitted with a life vest, tandem kayak and paddle. Following a paddling lesson, you and the rest of the group will launch from Coronado Ferry Landing. Throughout the Kayak Tour you will learn about San Diego’s architecture, history and rich maritime culture. Highlights along the way include Petco Park, the Embarcadero, Naval Station North Island, Coronado Bridge and the Hotel Del Coronado. With super stable sit-on-top kayaks, this fun urban tour of San Diego via water is great for any ability level and no experience is required!

The Coronado Tours are offered on Saturdays and Sundays year-round, subject to availability. Tours are offered at 1:00 PM.

How Long Is The Coronado Kayaking Tour

The Guided San Diego Tours have a paddle time of approximately 2 hours and a total duration of approximately 2½ hours.

Does Weather Impact Kayaking Experiences

The San Diego Kayak Tours may be rescheduled by the Guide due to high winds, heavy rain, fog or other inclement weather.

What to Wear for Kayaking Experiences

Dress comfortably in a bathing suit or light, quick-drying clothing, sandals and sunglasses. A hat with a visor is also recommended. The water is cold so feel free to bring a wet suit or jacket. Please also bring an extra towel with a change of clothes.

What To Know Before You Go

Coronado Kayak Tours take place in a tandem Kayak built for two participants. If additional participants are added the additional participants will be placed in single kayaks, unless tandem kayaks are requested.

Wetsuits and lockers are available to rent for an additional cost on the day of your tour.

Tours are designed to accommodate beginners as well as experienced kayakers. Individuals under the age of 16 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Appropriate PFDs are available for all age levels. All equipment is included and instruction is provided.

Participants are required to sign a Liability Release Form.

All changes to reservations for the Coronado Kayaking Tour Experience require seven (7) days advance notice.

Great Time

We received a gift cert from our daughter for our anniversary. Our experience was great! Mike was a great tour guide, he was very knowledgeable with trivia about san diego. It was an easy tour considering all the rowing! Would recommend this for anyone!

Question: My husband and I were given a Coronado Kayaking Tour Certificate for Christmas. Can we get our own kayaks?

Answer: This activity is for 2 people in a tandem kayak. Single kayaks are available for an additional cost.
Question: What is a "Sit On Top" Kayak?

Answer: I sit on top kayak is similar to a canoe. Instead of having your legs enclosed inside you are in seats with your legs open. It provides extra stability for you and your partner.
Question: My wife and I received this tour as an anniversary present. What exactly do we get a tour of?

Answer: The tour hugs the coast so you get great views of the skyline from the unique perspective of being on the water. Along the way your guide will talk about the architecture and history of the city as well as the maritime culture and history.
Question: My wife and her father are both hard of hearing. Is the audio tour done over a microphone while kayaking?

Answer: No, unfortunately a microphone is not used by the guide during the tour.
