The Port St Lucie Flying Lessons include 15 minutes of ground instruction and flight length of 60 minutes with a total duration of approximately 1¼ hours.

What To Know Before You Go

The Flight Lesson will take place in a Cessna 172. Participation is limited to individuals 14 years of age or older weighing less than 250lbs. Individuals who are pregnant, have broken bones or other physical conditions which are considered unsafe conditions are not eligible to participate.

Participants are required to sign a Liability Release Form prior to flight. If the participant is under the age of 18 a parent or guardian will need to sign the form prior to participation.

Recommend Xperience Flight for anyone interested in learning about a future in general aviation

With respect to the pre-flight and actual flight, I was very surprised and pleased with how the instructor pilot familiarized me with the aircrafts operation and then allowed for hands on operation to gain a feel for the pilot experience. I am considering my decision to pursue formal training. The only concern I have was with the busyness of the training center with respect to the number of people training, as it seemed to be overwhelmed with activity. I would want to explore a training schedule that would avoid peak times. Thanks

Outstanding experience

This was a great experience with instructor Robert at the controls. The entire trip from start to finish was well-planned, with all the instructions in place, and still enough time to enjoy all the great views of our beautiful area and allow a bit of time for some photography as well. Amazing Flight

Under the guidance of experienced pilot and instructor Germain, we went through the pre-flight check and started the engine. Then, before you know it, he is letting ME taxi out to the runway and, with constant verbal instructions, lets me get the plane into the air! Next it was out to the west towards Lake Okeechobee during which Germain walked me through many basic maneuvers such as 20 and 30 degree turns, how to change and maintain speed and altitude and how to keep an eye on the required instruments. Finally, to my surprise, we made two 'touch and go's' before finally landing.

It was an intense experience made easy by Germain's continuous instruction and feedback, not to mention his ability to instill confidence and pride. On the other hand, I could have opted to not touch any control and simply enjoy a relaxing flight over the fields or the coast. I can't recommend this Experience Days/Treasure Coast Flight Training package enough. It was a gift from my son. It makes a terrific gift for anyone! My last words are a second heartfelt thank you to my pilot, Germain!

Discovery Flight

Awesome! That's the best way to describe my flight experience. My son's gift to me is called a 'Discovery Flight'. It is offered by the good folks of the Treasure Coast Flight Training school at Witham Field in Stuart, Florida. A Discovery Flight offers one the alternative of just sitting back and enjoying the flight or of a hands on experience in which you operate the plane in the air under the guidance of the pilot.

Prior to takeoff there is a step by step check list to complete including fuel, oil, movement of controls such as rudder and elevators. My pilot/instructor was Chad and besides checking things meticulously, he explained each step along the way. Very informative! In addition, he answered each of my questions including the big one: is it true that if the engine were to fail, the plane becomes a glider? The answer: yes, I'll demonstrate that for you.

Chad took care of all radio functions as well as takeoff. In moments we were climbing smoothly. It's important to note that even though there are dual controls, there is a pilot seat and a passenger seat in the plane. On these flights, the trainee gets the pilot's seat with the full array of instruments and gauges. Very soon into the flight, Chad allowed me to take over the controls and prompted me to check certain instruments and make necessary adjustments with the yoke and elevator pedals.

Next, the glider demonstration. The pilot throttled down to idle, not completely off, and things became quieter. Then, once again step by step, we adjusted various controls to trim the plane in a controlled glide. I was impressed at how much time would be available for a pilot to attempt an engine restart or, if necessary, to complete a safe landing. Like I said, awesome.

After a full hour in the air it was time to come down. Clouds were forming ahead but they only added to the beauty of the flight. The pilot performed the landing, once again explaining each step along the way.

Amazing!

As a person previously afraid to fly this experience changed my life. I am now thinking of getting my pilots license! The instructor Mike knew his stuff and exactly how to explain it. He was in no rush and even stayed after the lesson to explain more about the plane. The School was also amazing as a whole very nice place/people. Discovery Flight

I had a wonderful Instructor, and guide through my flight. We took off and flew out towards my house. The controls were turned over to me and let me follow the roads out to where I live. Then we practiced climbing, diving, and making turns. It was a great introduction to leaning to fly. I would recommend the experience to anyone who has a desire to learn to fly, Cause it is hard to say no to the skies once you have enjoyed it.

Question: I see you must be at least 14 years old to participate. Is there an age restriction to be a passenger?

Answer: No, there is no minimum age to be a passenger. The weight limit for both passengers must be less than 375lbs.
Question: How much actual flight time will I get with the Port St Lucie Discovery Flight Lesson?

Answer: The flight lesson consists of 15 minutes of ground instruction and 60 minutes of flight time. Flight time is defined as 'chocks away to chocks under' meaning as soon as the plane is moving until it stops. It includes taxi, take off and landing time. Once the pilot takes off and you are in the air, you can be at the controls as much and as little as you like. The pilot will handle the landing at the end.
Question: I purchased the Port St Lucie Discovery Flight Lesson for my wife's birthday. Can I ride along and take pictures?

Answer: You may bring one additional guest on the flight lesson. The combined weight of both passengers must be less than 375lbs.
Question: I'm only in Florida for a couple of days. Can I get a refund if my flight is cancelled for weather?

Answer: Experience Days Certificates are non-refundable and cannot be exchanged once a reservation has been made. If your flight is cancelled you will be rescheduled directly by the flight school. For that reason we recommend booking your flight at the beginning of your trip.
Question: I'm interested in getting my pilot's license but have never been at the controls before. I'd like to try it before I commit to anything. If I purchase a Discovery flight lesson for myself will the time count towards my pilot's license?

Answer: Yes, you may log the hour towards your license.
Question: I am trying to conquer a fear of flying and thought that this experience might help. Do you have an opinion about that?

Answer: Unfortunately we are unable to say whether or not a flight lesson is a good way to conquer a fear of flying as each person will react differently to being in and taking the controls of a small aircraft.
Question: Could this be used as an sightseeing ride for two instead? I see I could buy a flying lesson let’s say for my husband, and to accompany him. Our 50th wedding anniversary is approaching, and this would be cool.
