After you meet your Certified Flight Instructor at the Ocala International Airport, you will climb into a Cessna 172 and experience the thrill of taking the controls of a light aircraft during this introductory 30 minute scenic discovery flight.

You will soar 3,000 feet over beautiful Central Florida in this light aircraft. Before the fun begins, you will receive a briefing from your Flight Instructor on the techniques and safety aspects of light aircraft flying. After your briefing, you will hop into the co-pilot's seat and prepare for takeoff with the Certified Pilot by your side, guiding you every step of the way, until landing.

The Ocala Introductory Discovery Flight Lesson is offered Monday through Saturday, year-round, subject to availability. Flights may be scheduled between 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM.

How Long Is The Ocala Introductory Flight Lesson

The Ocala Introductory Flight Lesson in a Cessna 172 has a flight time of approximately 30 minutes and a total duration of approximately 45 minutes, unless an Extended Flight Option is selected.

Does Weather Impact Flying Lessons

The Introductory Flight Lesson in Ocala may be rescheduled by the Instructor due to severe weather such as high winds, fog or rain. If the flight is cancelled by the Pilot, it may be rescheduled for a mutually convenient alternative date.

What to Wear for Flying Lessons

Dress comfortably, layers and flat rubber-soled athletic shoes are recommended for this aerial adventure.

What To Know Before You Go

Participation is limited to individuals weighing less than 235lbs.

Participant must be at least 12 years of age or older. Individuals who are pregnant, have broken bones or other physical conditions which are considered by the Instructor to be unsafe conditions are not eligible to participate.

Participants are required to show a valid form of ID and they will be required to sign a Liability Release Form.

Most amazing

Zak is an excellent instructor. He explained things in a way I could easily retain. He showed me every aspect of how to and what each individual instrument worked I was given use of control of plane from the moment we set in plane. Ive wanted to fly since the first time I kid. After Christmas I'm starting lessons. Going to try to get Zak as instructor. I'd recommend this school to everyone. Loved it.

Great day!

It was a wonderful gift for my husband who has always wanted to learn how to fly. Our instructor let him taxi to the runway, assist with takeoff and flying. It was excellent! We opted for a whole hour, so glad we did. Very casual, and our instructor was very laid-back and fun. Ever since I first found out what an airplane was, Immediately I knew I wanted to be a pilot. This introductory flight lesson taught me so much. My instructor was very kind and showed me everything I needed to know in order to control the aircraft properly. They don’t just show you how the gauges work and let you fly for 5 minutes, they let you take control for as long as you’d like. This lesson shows you how to complete a pre-flight checklist, take control of the rudder and taxi to the runway, takeoff, and handle turbulence and turns as well. At the end of the flight, you receive a complimentary shirt, bag, and much more to remember your experience. If your flight gets cancelled due to weather, they will do their best to reschedule you for the next day, or any time you would like.

Upon arrival, was greeted very nicely. No long paperwork to fill out, ready to go when my wife got there. My wife was asked to join me on the flight, after a little convincing she agreed. Had a great time. What made so was the friendly and confident demeanor of our pilot Josh. He made the trip so enjoyable for me and my wife, who is not the most comfortable flyer. Before getting there, my wife and I had decided that going on for additional lessons was not going to happen, merely a pleasure trip. However, after the flight and talking to Josh we have changed our position and I will most likely be going after a pilots license. If I can make sure that Josh is my instructor. Thanks again.

The flight instructor was great! He started with some ground school fundamentals on aerodynamics and had clear and simple explanations. During the flight portion he let me have as much command of the aircraft as I felt comfortable taking on. We performed various maneuvers demonstrating some of the aerodynamic principles explained earlier. We had a great day to fly weather-wise and overall he and the experience were excellent.

1st Private Flight Lesson

This was a Christmas gift from my parents. I have been considering working towards obtaining a pilots license while in college. Was surprised to be able to take up a 4 seater Cessna 172, instead of a smaller plane. This provided opportunity for my 2 younger sisters to go on the flight too! Question: I'm going to give my husband a Florida flight lesson for his birthday. Can I go with him and take pictures.

Answer: One Guest may join and ride as a passenger. Each participant must weigh no more than 250lbs and the maximum combined weight is 450lbs.
Question: How long is the actual flight time will we get and how much of that time will I be at the controls?

Answer: The FAA defines flight time as "chocks away to chocks under." Your flight time will include your taxi, onboard pre-flight check, and landing. Once airborne you will be at the controls as much as you feel comfortable with. You will learn how to turn, climb, descend and control the speed of the plane.
