What To Know Before You Go

Tours include 1½ to 2 miles of walking and there are typically five or six stops for tastings and enough food that most leave full. Participants may bring a bottle of water or non-alcoholic beverage on the tour. Water is offered at all stops and one location includes a microbrew tasting. Substitutions will be offered for those under 21 and non-alcohol drinkers. Tours are not designed for children under the age of 10.

Locations visited on the tour are subject to change. Substitutions can be made for vegetarian and gluten free diets, and diets that are milk, nut, gluten and alcohol free.

Gratuities for your tour guide are not included but are greatly appreciated and may be offered at the end of the event.

You will have the opportunity to purchase additional food and beverages after the experience, therefore participants are urged to bring additional spending money.

Unfortunately this tour is not wheelchair accessible as there are at least 74 steps that must be taken during the experience.

Great tour!

My friends and I did this tour to celebrate one of our friends birthdays. We ended up being the only ones on the tour so it was great to get a private tour! It was a beautiful Sunday so walking all over the city was perfect. Our tour person had a great personality and even gave us some history as we walked around. We walked by and in boutiques and stores that I've never even noticed. I would definitely recommend this to any groups, any ages!

Questions about Santa Cruz Food Tour

Question: The Santa Cruz Food Tour starts around 2:30 which is an "in between" time. Should we eat lunch before the tour? How much food is served? Should we make dinner reservations for that night?

Answer: The tour operator recommends eating a light snack for lunch. You'll want to come hungry and most people leave full. The tour runs about 3 1/2 hours long so you'll be done around 6pm. This is an eating tour and you won't need to go out to dinner afterwards.
Question: I received a certificate for the Santa Cruz food tour. It's valid for 2 people but the person I'd like to bring is a vegetarian. Will they be able to accommodate him?

Answer: Vegetarian and diets that are milk, nut and gluten free can be accommodated with advance notice.

Answer: Believe it or not, more than half of the guests that take the tour are locals and the feedback has been positive. The stops are off the beaten path and they tell little known stories about the area along the way. This is the perfect gift for your friend and he'll probably find some hidden gems. Question: I'd like to buy this tour for my parents but they're not as young and spry as they once were. How much walking is there on the tour? Are there a lot of hills? Will they have any opportunities to stop and rest?

Answer: The tour is on it's feet most of the time but the terrain is relatively flat. There is one steep uphill climb and one long set of stairs they'll have to descend (the equivalent of about 4 flights). Altogether the tour is about 3 1/2 hours long and out of that time there will be three 15 minute breaks (approximately 45 minutes of sitting).

Answer: Unfortunately, because of the hills and the stairs, this is not a wheelchair accessible tour.
