How Long Is The Indianapolis IndyCar Experience

The Indianapolis Indy Car Lap includes 2 Laps as Passenger and has a total duration of approximately 2½ hours.

Does Weather Impact Race Car Driving Experiences

The IndyCar in Indianapolis experience is dependent on favorable weather, and can only operate when the conditions are safe. Rides may be rescheduled by the School due to high winds, heavy rain, fog or other inclement weather.

What to Wear for Race Car Driving Experiences

Dress comfortably for this once in a lifetime racing adventure. Participants will be provided with a fire suit, helmet, gloves, fire shoes and all necessary equipment. Fire suits are very warm and must be worn over your clothes. Please bring socks.

What To Know Before You Go

Participation in the IndyCar is limited to individuals 18 years of age or older. For safety reasons participants must be a minimum of 5'0" tall and no more than 6'5" tall and weigh a minimum of 100 lbs and no more than 250 lbs.

The race cars are purpose built, full sized, Indy-style Race Cars.

Participants are required to sign a Liability Release Form.

Reservation And Cancelation Policy

All changes to reservations for the Indianapolis IndyCar Experience require forty-five (45) days advance notice. Changes to reservations are subject to a $50.00 administrative fee.

Question: I would like to purchase a ride along for my husband and was looking at your Indianapolis IndyCar Experience. How fast do they actually go?

Answer: The IndyCars in this experience will go 180mph+ around the track. It's one of the fasted ride-alongs you can participate in.
Question: Is the IndyCar experience at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway on the road course or the oval track?

Answer: The 2 lap ride-along takes place on the 2.5 mile oval track allowing you to experience top end speed and g-forces of the open wheel IndyCar.
Question: My brother-in-law is European and really into Formula 1 racing. I saw this Indy Car experience and the cars look the same. Can you tell me what the difference is between F1 and Indy?

Answer: While they look the same, both are very different. In fact, the only real similarity is that they are both open-wheel race cars. Formula 1 race cars are designed and built from scratch, while the Indy Cars must comply with certain specifications. Indy Cars have higher top end speed and are designed for an oval track while an F1 is designed with downward force and traction to perform better on a road course. When raced side by side an F1 will win a road course every time and an Indy Car will win the oval course, as long as they have room to get up to full speed on the straightaways (like IMS). The cost of Formula 1 cars makes them prohibitive to drive or ride along in so if your brother-in-law is interested in a high-performance open-wheel ride, this is the best experience for him.
Question: Can I bring my family and friends?

Answer: Absolutely! There is a special seating area for family and friends and they are all more than welcome to take as many pictures and video as desired. Children are also welcome, but please bring ear protection for them as the cars are sometimes a little loud for little ears! Family can be right behind pit wall to capture all the fun!

Answer: The Indianapolis IndyCar Experience is a 2 lap ride-along. These cars were purpose-built with Dallara Automobili and are exclusive to this experience. There is truly nothing else like them on earth and the only way to experience open wheel IndyCar Speed and g forces. With professional driver's you will get the maximum performance out of these speed machines!
