What to Wear for Food Tour Experiences

Dress comfortably, flat rubber-soled shoes and layers are recommended for this culinary adventure. Flip-flops, high heels and dress-shoes are not recommended.

What To Know Before You Go

Tours include 1 to 1½ miles of walking. There are typically nine stops for tastings and enough food is offered that, for most, a meal afterwards is not needed. Water is served along the way, however it is suggested that participants bring their own reusable water bottles.

Children under the age of 5 not participating in tastings do not need a ticket. Tours are stroller and Wheelchair accessible. Pets are not allowed on the tour.

Stops on th tour may include but are not limited to Ethnic Eateries, a Mexican Grill, a Donut Shop, a Handmade Candy Stall, LA's First Pizzeria, an artisan Ice Cream shop, a Fresh Produce Stand and a Gourmet Grocery Store.

Gratuities for your tour guide are not included but are greatly appreciated and may be offered at the end of the event.

I was given this tour as a birthday gift and have to say we absolutely loved it. Our group was only six people large along with our guide and I have to say the small group was AWESOME! I understand you sometimes do larger tours but i can't imagine that being as intimate or fun. Our guide was a large part of why our tour was so enjoyable as well.

I went on to the Farmer's Market Food Tour AMAZING! Diane is amazing first of all with all her knowledge and sweet deposition. Very friendly! If that wasnt enough then you get to try all these amazing foods, so tasty - organic- fresh. The tour highlights small family businesses you can't find anywhere else. The stories/history is great - as a native it was very impressive to realize there is still so much to LA that I don't know. Makes a cute date/double date and you leave feeling full but not stuffed still wanting more!

Questions about Farmers Market Food Tour

Question: I have some vegetarian ( no poultry, seafood, meat ) friends who are interested in this trip. Is this trip equally fulfilling for them as well?

Answer: Yes - this tour is actually very vegetarian and vegan friendly. With advance notice the tour company will do their best to arrange equally tasty options where appropriate.
Question: I'd like to attend with my hubby and our baby. Is it OK to bring our son?

Answer: Infants or young children under the age of 5 do not need tickets if they will not be participating in the food tastings. Children are certainly welcome on the Los Angeles food tours, but they kindly ask that you take the appropriate steps to minimize distraction to the other guests should they become restless or uncomfortable.
Question: What kinds of food will we be able to sample at the Farmer's Market? Are the tastings included in the price?

Answer: There are about 10 tastings that are included, and you'll have the opportunity to sample more at your own cost as you walk around the market. The stops are subject to change but in the past they have included a variety of ethnic food (French, Brazilian, Cajun, or Middle Eastern), L.A.'s first pizzeria, a doughnut shop, handmade candies, and a Mexican Grill.
Question: Is this tour wheelchair accessible?

Answer: Yes, the entire tour takes place in the Los Angeles Farmer's Market and is relatively flat with no stairs. Please be sure to let us know in the notes when requesting your reservation so we can pass the information on to the tour company.

Answer: The tours are held rain or shine. If the Farmer's Market is open the tour is on!

Answer: A little. If you see something at one of the pre-planned stops you'll have plenty of time to make additional purchases. If it's not on the tour and not a quick purchase they ask that you wait until the end to go back. At the beginning of every tour you'll be given a detailed printed itinerary and guide to the market so you'll be able to find your way back.
