The Outdoor Adventure Experience in Sierra Nevada is approximately 8 hours in duration.

Does Weather Impact Outdoor Activity Gifts

The American River Outdoor Adventure may be rescheduled by the Guide due to high winds, heavy rain or other inclement weather, and low water levels.

What to Wear for Outdoor Activity Gifts

Dress comfortably, and bring a change of clothing. Recommended items include a water bottle, swimsuit, shorts, t-shirt, a fleece or jacket, outdoor sandals or non-slip sneakers. Close toed shoes are required, sunglasses or hat and sunscreen are also recommended.

What To Know Before You Go

Ropes Course is built to rigorous safety standard specifications and you will be harnessed in. Participants must weigh less than 240lbs.

For the rafting trip, wetsuits and paddling jackets, usually only needed early season, are available to rent for an additional cost or participants may bring their own. Personal flotation devices are provided and must be worn by all participants.

Individuals who are pregnant, have broken bones or other physical conditions such as heart or lung conditions, severe asthma, back problems, recent surgery, obesity or osteoporosis or any other condition which is considered unsafe are not eligible to participate.

Lunch is provided and Deli-style sandwiches with your choice of bread, turkey, chicken, and salami cold cuts, several cheeses, fresh tomatoes, bell peppers, lettuce, cucumbers, pickles, onion, artichoke hearts, sun-dried tomatoes, pesto, hummus, mayo, mustard and hot sauces of different persuasions, plus fresh fruit, chips and/or crackers, cookies, and lemonade.

Drugs and alcohol are strictly prohibited prior and during the excursions.

Price includes lunch and tax. Gratuities for your Guide are not included but are greatly appreciated and may be offered at the end of the event.

All changes to reservations for the Sierra Nevada Outdoor Adventure Experience require thirty-five (35) days advance notice.

River Rafting

The rafting trip was a lot of fun. The guides were terrific and the scenery was very nice. It was my first time rafting, and I want to try it again in the future on a river with stronger rapids.

Questions about Sierra Nevada Adventure

Question: How difficult are the rapids on the South Fork?

Answer: Expect up to Class III rapids. Class III means there will be irregular waves that are unavoidable as well as large waves that are easily avoidable if you wish. You can usually self rescue if you fall out of the raft. You will be with experienced raft guides so scouting ahead is not necessary for most of the river.
Question: Is there any camping nearby?

Answer: Yes, there is camping nearby. The adventure company can make camping recommendations.
Question: Will we have cell reception near the river?

Answer: Cell phone reception is limited. You will want to print out a copy of directions before you leave rather than use your smartphone to navigate.
Question: My parents sent me this experience but I'm afraid of heights. How difficult is the ropes course?

Answer: The course is designed to push your limits and each station is permanently manned throughout the morning so you can go to each obstacle at your own pace. Feel free to try some of the lower ropes first.
Question: My aunt sent me the rafting tour for Christmas. If my boyfriend and I go in the Spring when the water is cold, will they provide us with wetsuits?

Answer: Wetsuits and paddle jackets are available for rent. Everything else will be provided by the rafting company.
