You will start your adventure with the inflation and launch of the balloon. Once a drift, the wind will direct your journey as you coast by Utah's magnificent hills, valleys and resorts. No matter where you depart from: Park City, with aerial views of the Wasatch mountains, ski ranges and Olympic venues; or from Heber, with views of the country-style landscapes of "Little Switzerland, both locations have wonderful sights to see!

Once your balloon has landed and the balloon is packed away, you and the rest of the guests will be chauffeured to the launch site to enjoy a traditional champagne toast!

The Park City Hot Air Balloon flights are offered year-round, subject to availability. Flights take place at sunrise between 6:00 AM and 8:00 AM. Departure times will vary upon the time of year the flight is scheduled.

How Long Is The Park City Hot Air Balloon Ride

The Park City Balloon Flights have a flight time of approximately 1 hour and a total duration of approximately 3 hours.

Does Weather Impact Hot Air Balloon Rides

The Hot Air Balloon Rides Over Park City are dependent on favorable weather, and can only fly when the conditions are safe. Flights may be rescheduled by the Pilot due to high winds, heavy rain, fog or other inclement weather.

What to Wear for Hot Air Balloon Rides

Dress comfortably, flat rubber-soled shoes and layers are recommended for this open air adventure.

What To Know Before You Go

Participation in the Hot Air Balloon is limited to individuals weighing less than 220lbs, between 4' and 6'5" tall and at least 8 years of age.

Participants must be able to stand for a minimum of 90 minutes. Individuals who are pregnant, have broken bones or other physical conditions which are considered unsafe conditions are not eligible to participate.

Participants are required to sign a Liability Release Form prior to flight. Flight concludes with a champagne or cider toast.

Questions about Park City Ballooning

Question: My husband and I received this gift as a wedding present. Can we ask the pilot to fly over the ski area?

Answer: Unfortunately you are not permitted to fly over the ski area. But you will get excellent views of it!
Question: Can the pilot actually steer the balloon?

Answer: Winds determine a balloon’s direction and the wind blows in different directions at different altitudes. Balloonists can steer a balloon, to a limited extent, by adjusting the balloon’s altitude to make use of different wind speeds and directions.
Question: What happens if our flight is cancelled for bad weather?

Answer: If your balloon ride over Park City is cancelled for weather you will be rescheduled directly by the balloon company.
Question: I would like to surprise my girlfriend with a hot air balloon ride, but she is not a morning person. Do they ever offer mid-day or afternoon flights?

Answer: Flights are only offered in the morning because that's the safest time to fly. Winds are generally most favorable the first hours after sunrise. The sun’s uneven heating of the earth’s surface causes strong, variable winds. In the morning, it takes a few hours for the sun to heat the earth’s surface enough to generate the thermal activity that creates wind.
Question: My friend uses a wheelchair. Is the Park City Balloon ride handicapped accessible?

Answer: Unfortunately it is not. The basket is about 4 feet high and everyone must be able to get in and out of it on their own and be able to stand for extended periods of time. You also never know exactly where you'll land and sometimes it's on rocky, uneven terrain. Finally the chase vehicle will park as close as possible but you may have to walk a little ways to get back to it.
