Become a fighter pilot for a day during this Intro to Air Combat mission! Learn the basics of air combat maneuvers and engage in three actual air-to-air combat dog fights during this hands-on 30 minute aerobatic flight.

Upon arrival at the Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport, you'll be greeted by your friendly Co-Pilot and receive your flight gear. After a full briefing on tactical air combat maneuvers, you and your Instructor will strap in to an Extra 300L aircraft for your mission. Next, you will take part in a formation take-off – a unique experience in itself. You and your opponent’s planes will take off down the runway in tandem! Once airborne, you'll both fly to the training area where you'll take over the controls of your respective aircraft. Once piloting the Extra 300L, you will practice aircraft handling, weapons usage and basic aerobatic maneuvers.

During the initial two G-pulling air combat engagements, you will take turns flying both offensive and defensive tactical maneuvers with your opponent. Once complete, the “Fight’s On!” for three head-to-head engagements against your adversary. This Air Combat Mission culminates with the formation high-speed, low-altitude pass down the runway to the base.

Following the flight, you and your opponent will debrief with the Instructors as you watch the video of this thrilling experience! How Long Is The Phoenix Aerial Combat Mission

The Aerial Combat Mission in Phoenix includes 45 minutes of ground instruction, a flight time of 30 minutes and a total duration of approximately 2½ to 3 hours.

Does Weather Impact Air Combat Experiences

The Air-to-Air Combat Mission may be rescheduled by the Pilot due to high winds, heavy rain, fog or other inclement weather.

What to Wear for Air Combat Experiences

Dress comfortably, flat rubber-soled shoes and layers are recommended for this aerial adventure. You will be provided with a flight suit to wear during the experience.

What To Know Before You Go

Participation in the Extended Advanced Aerial Combat is limited to individuals fluent in English weighing more than 100lbs and less than 250lbs. Participants must be less than 6'6" tall, over 15 years of age and must be able to physically get in and out of aircraft without assistance. No previous flying experience is required.

Participants are advised to be well rested for the flight. Please avoid drinking alcohol 24 hours prior to the scheduled experience. Motion sickness is possible but unlikely and can be reduced by avoiding heavy meal(s) prior to the scheduled flight.

The planes used for the Advanced Aerial Combat Experiences are EXTRA 300L: German-Built, FAA-Certified. These planes are the highest performance certified aerobatic aircraft in the World. The Extra is used by top aerobatic and air show performers world-wide. The Extra is stressed to +/- 10G's, has a roll rate of 360°/second, and a climb rate in excess of 3200 fpm making it one of the safest and most capable aircraft in the sky. The aircraft are maintained in strict accordance with the Federal Air Regulations and the instructors, both military and civilian, have full credentials.

Participants are required to sign a Liability Release Form prior to flight.

Upon reservation you will receive an air combat tactics manual to review prior to your adventure. Upon completion of the experience you will receive a Cockpit Hero Photo and an in-flight video.
