The Capitol Hill Culinary Tours are offered Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday year round, subject to availability. Tours typically begin at 11:30 AM on Wednesdays and 2:00 PM on Weekends.

How Long Is The Capitol Hill Food Tour

The Capitol Hill Walking Food Tours have a tour length of approximately 3 hours and a total duration of approximately 3¼ hours.

Does Weather Impact Food Tour Experiences

The Washington DC Food Tours take place in all weather conditions, but may be rescheduled by the Guide due to sever weather conditions.

What to Wear for Food Tour Experiences

Dress comfortably. Flat rubber-soled shoes and layers are recommended for this culinary adventure. Flip-flops, high heels and dress-shoes are not recommended.

What To Know Before You Go

Tours finish within three blocks of the starting point and include 1½ to 2 miles of walking. There are typically four or five stops along the tour, each stop will last between 20 and 25 minutes.

All dishes are served sitting down, so you can enjoy the ambiance of each restaurant while trying their specialties, and hearing their stories. All dishes served are included in the price of the tour. The dishes you will try resemble small meals rather than traditional tastings. During the Food Tour, each restaurant will serve water or other beverages. Alcoholic beverages can be purchased during the tour from the restaurant(s).

Eating a light brunch before the tour rather than lunch is recommended. Enough food is served that most participants will not need dinner after the tour.

Unfortunately, due to the nature of the experience no substitutions can be made.

Gratuities for your tour guide are not included but are greatly appreciated and may be offered at the end of the event.

Capitol Hill Food/History Walking Tour

We and 10 other individuals were treated to a wonderful afternoon with our guide, Sharon Bosworth, in a strolling history tour, interspersed with stops at Indian, Greek and Italian restaurants. Because we had to leave to drive home to Pennsylvania, we missed dessert at a 4th stop. We would highly recommend this tour!! Thanks Sharon!

The food tour was outstanding. Not only did we get to sample very delicious food but also got a history lesson about Capitol Hill. I thoroughly enjoyed the tour. All the food was god and the guide was able to answer all our questions. I would definitely recommend ExperienceDays tours. The only reason I didn't give it a 5 was because were spent so much time outside when it was so hot. There probably wasn't much of an option, though. It was a really good experience and I'd love to do another one.

This was a fabulous experience. We did not realize that we would be getting histoical information about the Eastern Marke location. This was a great experience. I wasn't expecting the history along with the eating. It was great to walk a little and learn inteesting information and then stop in for a bite to eat. You really have to pace yourself. The restaurants give you so much to try. It was great.

My husband and I took the Capitol Hill Food Tour on March 5, 2011. Our guide was Sharon Boswell. We enjoyed the experience very much. We walked, we talked we ate. We learned a great deal about the area and enjoyed surprisingly large portions of several excellent dishes. Ms. Boswell is an outstanding guide, very knowledgeable and sensitive to the needs of the group. We had a wonderful time and certainly will recommend the tour to all of our friends.

Capital Hill Tour Review

We had some fun on this tour but I would hardly call it a food tour. We were expecting gourmet bitings at some of Capital Hill's best restaurants and not lackluster food at Capital Hill's cheapest restaurants. The kernal corn from a can and the macoroni and cheese at one restaurant left me shaking my head in disbelief. The tour guide was a nice college student, but not a professional. I'd hate for tourists to take this tour and think that this is what DC has to offer.

My youngest daughter gave it to me as a Father's day gift. The tour was excellent, that goes for the food and the tour guide's informative information about the neighborhood. The only drawback was the weather, 95+ degrees & the humidity that DC is famous for.

Our guide, Sarah, was friendly and very knowledgeable of the history of the Capitol Hill area. Her wealth of information was very interesting, and her delivery was entertaining. We enjoyed the time we spent with her, and will ask for her again on future tours.
