May thru Labor Day sails are offered at 10:30 AM, 1:00 PM, 3:30 PM and 6:00 PM. Labor Day thru October sails are offered at 12:00 PM, 2:30 PM and 5:00 PM.

What To Know Before You Go

Although food is not served on board, you are welcome to bring your own snacks and beverages onboard, including alcoholic beverages. However, coolers are not permitted.

The Bagheera (built in 1924) is certified by the U.S. Coast Guard to carry 48 passengers; the Wendameen (built in 1912) is certified to carry or 49 day-sail passengers.

Unfortunately the boats are not wheelchair accessible and smoking is not permitted onboard.

Gratuity for the Captain and Crew is not included and may be extended following the sail.

Bagheera Sail Maine

We spent the most glorious 2 hours sailing on the Bagheera around the outer harbor and islands. Lucked into a day of brisk winds, bright blue sky and puffy white clouds. Staff and captain were pleasant, humorous and informative. The companions on the sail included some locals and some from a cruise ship in town for the day. Everyone was smiling.

Questions about Sailing Maine

Question: I am interested in purchasing the Sailing Trip in Portland Main for my parents. Is it only for two people? Will they be able to customize the route?

Answer: The Schooner Sailing Portland Maine Xperience is not a private experience and because of this you will not be able to customize the route. You will be joined by additional participants on the sail.
Question: Just wondering if people experience sea sickness from only 2 hours and on this type of boat. I would hate to give a gift that made someone sick.

Answer: The sail stays in the calm waters of Casco Bay, so you can expect to experience SMOOTH SAILING. The Ship does not sail in the open, unprotected ocean and seasickness is uncommon on the two-hour sails. If you are very susceptible to seasickness, taking preventative medication is at your own discretion.
Question: Is there food or drinks available for purchase on the ship?

Answer: No, but you are welcome to bring your own snacks and drinks. Coolers are not permitted.
Question: I would like to take my girlfriend on this sail and bring a bottle of wine. Is alcohol permitted?

Answer: Yes. Feel free to bring your own beer or wine for the 2 hour sail. Please bring plastic cups and not glasses.
Question: Is the ship wheelchair accessible?

Answer: Unfortunately it is not.
