Does Weather Impact Kayaking Experiences

The Sunset Kayaking Tours On Lake Tahoe may be rescheduled by the Guide due to high winds, heavy rain, fog or other inclement weather.

What to Wear for Kayaking Experiences

Dress comfortably in swimwear and quick drying clothing. Cotton is not recommended. A change of clothes, a hat, waterproof footwear, sunscreen and sunglasses are also recommended. It is suggested to bring a long sleeve wind-breaker or fleece if you’re paddling early morning, late in the day, or during the Spring/Fall.

What To Know Before You Go

Sunset Kayaking Tours On Lake Tahoe are designed to accommodate beginners as well as experienced kayakers. The difficulty/fitness level for this tour is designated as Easy.

Appropriate PFDs are available for all sizes. Participants must be 18 years or older to participate in this tour. Dogs are not permitted.

All equipment is included and instruction is provided. Food is not provided.

Participants are required to sign a Liability Release Form.

Our originally scheduled day had rain in the morning and it was no problem to postpone the kayaking to the next day. That day was just gorgeous with great sunset and almost no wind. We saw a lot of wildlife and really had a good time.

Question: My husband and I received this tour as a wedding gift. Are the kayaks tandem or single?

Answer: The tour offers you a choice of single or tandem kayaks.
Question: How difficult do they rate the Sunset Tahoe Kayaking Tour?

Answer: It's rated as easy. It's a pretty leisurely 2hr paddle. Lake Tahoe tends to be the windiest and roughest during the middle of the day. Usually between 2pm and 5pm. By dusk the lake settles down and you'll see the sun disappearing behind the mountains reflected off the lake.
Question: Is there a place near the where the tour ends that we can have dinner?

Answer: Jake's by the Lake is a popular dinner location. You will want to make reservations during the peak of the summer.
