The New York Harbor Whale and Dolphin Watching Cruise is offered on select dates May thru October. Cruises typically depart at 12:00 PM and return at 3:30 PM. Select Saturdays have a 5:00 PM departure and return at 8:30 PM. Boarding begins a half hour prior to departure.

How Long Is The NY Whale and Dolphin Watching Adventure Cruise

The NYC Whale Watching Excursion has a cruise length of approximately 4 hours and a total duration of 5 hours.

Does Weather Impact Whale Watching Experiences

The Dolphin and Whale Watching Cruises may be rescheduled by the Captain due to high winds, heavy rain, fog or other inclement weather. Cruises will take place in light rain, so please dress accordingly.

What to Wear for Whale Watching Experiences

Dress comfortably, flat, non-marking rubber-soled shoes and layers are recommended for this open water adventure. A camera, video camera and/or binoculars are suggested items to bring.

What To Know Before You Go

Cruises take place on the American Princess, a 95 foot aluminum cruising vessel which is certified for up to 250 passengers. The ship features a large main deck and cabin with cushioned seating. The exterior main deck has built-in seating around the perimeter of the deck. Bathrooms are available onboard and the ship is handicap accessible.

Trips depart from Riis Landing in Rockaway NY. Price includes all taxes, however gratuity is not included and can be extended to your Captain and Crew following your adventure.

Beverages and snacks are available on the boat from the cash bar but are not included in the price of the cruise. No coolers may be brought on board the boat.

Children under the age of 5 are free and small strollers can be brought onboard. Children MUST be accompanied by an adult at all times.

Expecting mothers are not eligible to participate in this experience.

Answer: While Whale are not guaranteed, they are seen on the majority of cruises. Dolphins and other marine life are typically seen on every cruise.

Answer: The NY Harbor Whale and Dolphin Watching Cruise is a unique experience gift that's fun for the whole family. However, children must be accompanied by an adult at all times. There is a cash bar available on board. While passengers may bring sandwiches, coolers and outside alcoholic beverages are prohibited. Please note, all passengers are subject to search (as permitted by the US Coast Guard).
