The New York Public Market Tours are offered on select Sundays, year-round, subject to availability. Saturday tours typically begin at 12:00 PM.

The Essex Market Tastings have a tour length of 1½ hours and a total duration of approximately 1¾ hours.

Dress comfortably. Flat, rubber-soled shoes are recommended for this culinary walking tour.

What To Know Before You Go

Tours take place entirely inside the food market and include less than one mile of walking. Price includes several food tastings for each participant. Participants are advised to bring spending money as they will have the opportunity to purchase additional food, beverages, gifts and souvenirs on the tour.

Gratuities for your tour guide are not included but are greatly appreciated and may be offered at the end of the event.

Specific stops on the tour are rotated on a weekly basis, therefore dietary requirements or restrictions can not always be catered for. Locations visited rotate on a weekly basis, but tastings may include a selection of farmstead cheeses and charcuterie, cured fish, artisan breads and pastries, tacos, empanadas, homemade soup, rice balls, and chocolate truffles.

There is a public restroom in the Market which participants are welcome to use.

This tour is accessible for individuals that use wheelchairs. With advance notice, listening devices with headsets or neck loops can be made available.

Fun and Tasty

We had a really lovely time (albeit a cold time) for a couple of hours, however we were a little disappointed by the lack of variation in food types available to taste. This being so we had lovely tasty things to try. Places were hugely friendly and welcoming, our tour guide has built up amazing relationships with them all. Think the name of the tour should be altered to be more focused on what exactly the tour offers which is a wealth of information around that particular small area because it is very interesting fun and like I say, tasty!
