The Lower East Side was once home to a melting pot of immigrants who crowded the tenements after arriving on Ellis Island. By the turn of the 20^th century the area became associated with radical politics and soon was a hub for artists. During the second half of the 20^th century, meaningful street art and graffiti exploded out of New York and played a significant role in New York City’s urban culture. During this Big Apple Tour, you will learn how to interpret the meaning behind these artistic expressions that have united people of diverse backgrounds for a half a century. Your knowledgeable, local guide will escort you and the rest of the guests through the diverse ethnic neighborhoods to graffiti murals and street art created by some of NYC’s most innovative and emerging artists.

The Street Art Tours of New York are offered on Tuesdays, March thru December, subject to availability. Tours typically begin at 9:00 AM.

The New York Tours are typically 3 hours in length with a total duration of 3¼ hours.

The New York Sightseeing Tours take place in all weather conditions.

What to Wear for City Tour Experiences

Dress comfortably. Flat walking shoes and layers are recommended for this walking adventure.

What To Know Before You Go

Tours include less than two miles of walking. All ages are welcome on the tour, but keep in mind you will be standing or walking for three hours. All children must be accompanied by an adult.

There will be approximately 25–32 participants on the tour. The tour guide wears a portable microphone an speaker to ensure all participants can hear.

Tours do not run on on the following Holidays: Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, the Friday after Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and New Year's Day.

This tour is Wheelchair accessible. Service animals are allowed on the tour, however pets are not.

Gratuities are not included but are greatly appreciated and may be offered at the end of the event.
