During this three-hour Bay Area Art Class, you will work one-on-one with an experienced Glass Artist, Bryan Goldenberg, who will show you and the rest of the students how to create beautiful glass works of art. Throughout this art lesson, you will learn the fundamental skills of glass blowing as you create a glass vessel. After the class is complete and the shape has hardened you will even be able to pick up your masterpiece to take home and show off to friends and family.

The Glassblowing Classes in Oakland are offered on select Thursday evenings and select Saturday and Sunday mornings year-round, subject to availability. Weekday Classes typically begin at 6:00 PM and weekend classes are offered at 9:00 AM or 1:00 PM.

The Oakland Glass Arts Class includes one 3 hour art class with a total duration of 3¼ hours.

The Bay Area Glass Classes take place in all weather conditions.

What to Wear for Glass Blowing Experiences

Dress comfortably in clothes made from cotton that you don't mind getting messy. Open toed shoes are not permitted and participants under the age of 18 MUST wear long pants. Hair must be tied back.

What To Know Before You Go

Classes are taught by Bryan Goldenberg, founder of Slow Burn Glass.

Classes are inclusive of all instruction and materials. No experience necessary. Participation is limited to individuals 12 years of age or older. Participants under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an legal guardian.

Students will have 30 days to pick up their finished artwork or they may also choose to have it shipped for a $20.00 fee.

Participants are required to sign a liability release form prior to the start of class.

Class sizes are kept small to ensure all students receive one-on-one attention. Classes are very popular and tend to sell out three weeks to two months in advance.

The class was fun and small and I can't wait to see what we made, which is the only down side you don't get to take what you made home with you, obviously. They will ship, for a fee. The studio is lovely.

Questions about Oakland Glassblowing

Question: I have my reservation for the Oakland Glass Blowing beginner class next week. What should I wear?

Answer: Wear clothes that you don't mind getting dirty and, of course, no open toes shoes. They also recommend you wear materials made out of natural fibers, like cotton.
Question: I am looking for a fun daddy daughter gift for my 13 year old. What is the minimum age to take this glass blowing class?

Answer: The minimum age is 12 years old. Anyone participating under 18 must be accompanied by a legal guardian.
Question: Is there parking nearby?

Answer: There is plenty of parking on the street near the studio. Please park in the parallel parking spots across the street so you don't block the neighbors spaces.
Question: I purchased the Glass Blowing Class in Oakland for my daughter who is attending college in the Bay Area this fall. I want to make sure all the costs are covered. Will she have to buy any materials for the class?

Answer: All of the materials for the class are covered in the price of the certificate.
Question: I was given this class for a graduation present and would like to know if I will get to keep the glass piece we will make in the class?

Answer: Yes, Students will get to bring home their piece of art. It will need to cool overnight and you will have 30 days to pick up your pieces.
Question: I'd like to take my friend to this class while he is visiting. Will they ship his art to New York?

Answer: Yes they can arrange it. You will be required to pay for the cost of shipping on the day of the class.
