The Rock Climbing Lessons are offered offered May thru December, subject to availability. Lessons begin at 8:30 AM and end at 4:30 PM.

How Long Is The Rock Climbing 101

The Climbing Lessons have a length of 7 hours and a total duration of approximately 8½ hours.

Does Weather Impact Outdoor Activity Gifts

The Outdoor Rock Climbing Lesson is dependent on the weather and may be rescheduled by the Guide due to high winds, heavy rain, fog or other inclement weather.

What to Wear for Outdoor Activity Gifts

Dress comfortably for the weather, flat, rubber-soled and closed toed shoes, loose fitting pants or shorts, and a light waterproof breathable jacket are recommended for this outdoor adventure. Shorts must be no shorter than mid thigh, and no hiking boots are allowed. All gear including climbing shoes and a helmet will be provided by the school.

What To Know Before You Go

Price includes lesson, guide and equiptment rental. Food and beverages are not included. Participants should bring a packed lunch, snacks and fluids to drink.

Individuals who are pregnant, have broken bones or other physical conditions which are considered unsafe are not eligible to participate.

A day pack or backpack that you can climb in is recommended to hold your shoes, personal items, two 64 oz water bottles and a sack lunch. No small hydration packs as you will not be able to fit your shoes in them. Sunscreen, bug spray and a camera are recommended.

Gratuity for your guide is not included and may be extended following the trip. Participants must be over the age of 18 and are required to sign a Liability Release Form.

Fantastic Activity

I really had lots of fun going indoor rock climbing. I liked the set up with regards to first teaching how to climb as well as being the anchor for someone who is climbing. I am looking forward to my next trip. I would recommend this to anyone who wasn't afraid of heights and who is not athletically challenged.

Questions about Rock Climbing 101

Question: I would like to purchase this for my son as a college graduation gift as he is interested in starting rock climbing as a new hobby. I am thinking of buying him rock climbing shoes and some of the gear as well so I can give him a gift basket so to speak. Is there a discounted rate if the participant does not need to rent the gear?

Answer: The Climbing School provides all participants with technical rock climbing equipment at no extra cost. This includes rock shoes, harness, helmet, climbing hardware and ropes. If the participant has their own equipment they are more than welcome to use it. There is no discount if participants bring their own climbing equipment.
Question: I am an experienced rock climber, but my girlfriend has never been. I thought this gift would be a great way to get her started. I was hoping I could go along and watch from the sidelines as she learns. Is that possible?

Answer: Unfortunately, even if you are only along for viewing purposes and do not wish to participate you must still register and pay in full to be with the group. Climbing guides are responsible for managing the climbing site and everyone that is there. This rule is in place for the safety of climbers and the guide.
