What To Know Before You Go

This Photo Tour of Washington D.C. is for participants at any skill level with any kind of camera, film or digital. Guests are required to bring their own cameras on this adventure. If using a film camera, guest must bring their own film. Cameras nor film will be provided for this experience.

Classes will be led by professional architectural photographer, E. David Luria. Mr. Luria's own images of Washington DC have appeared in over 100 local and national publications – including TIME, Prevention, and Washingtonian Magazines – on 30 magazine covers, and on 80 postcards guidebooks, calendars and tourist publications sold throughout the area. You can also find 25 of his images in a published full-color coffee-table book entitled "Washington DC Visions" authored by Austin Kiplinger.

Wahington's Monuments at Night

I had a wonderful time. David Luria showed us with patence and humor how to photograph these beautiful monuments at night. I could ask him any questions and he would answer them with knowledge. He told us a lot of tips and tricks how to get the best shot of these the monuments at night. This class was inspiring to keep on shooting night time pictures.

I felt that my whole day was just great...met lots of new people and our teacher, Judy Reisman, for this day went out of her way to make sure that we were all good with what we were doing and was there to advise us if we needed it. She did not short change us on time for the class and went to a great place for lunch. I would definitley book another photo safari!!!

Questions about DC Photo Safari

Question: I would like to let the recipient chose the tour they want. Is it possible to give the experience and then let them chose the tour they want?

Answer: The certificate you purchase will be an open certificate which will allow the recipient to schedule the date of the event and choose the tour they prefer.
Question: How do I know which location they'll be at on my selected date?

Answer: Under "When It's Offered" if you hover your mouse over any of the dates in green the tour location will appear.
Question: Are the Washington DC photo safaris taught with digital or film cameras?

Answer: You can attend the class with either. The class is more focused on how to find the right photo and not how to use your camera. Even a point and shoot will work. If you have a digital camera you should bring and extra memory card and batteries. Bring extra film for your film camera. Neither will be provided by the tour. If you have a new camera it is recommended that you bring your manual.
Question: I was given this tour recently but am recovering from an ankle injury. Is there a lot of walking around the City?

Answer: Not at all. The safari is 3 hours long but is all located in a concentrated area. It's rare that the group will travel more than a mile.
Question: Are any of the locations offered for this tour wheelchair accessible?

Answer: Yes. All of the locations are wheelchair accessible.
Question: I am looking for a birthday gift for my son who has recently become interested in photography. Is there a minimum age?

Answer: There isn't a minimum age. The only requirement for children is that the kids themselves are genuinely interested in photography and in learning how to get full use out of their cameras.
